The new team is coming to IPL in 2021
In India, there was no doubt that this year's IPL will be in the hands of Corona. In the end, the Indian franchise tournament ended successfully in only three stadiums in the UAE with biosecurity.
The Mumbai Indians tasted the title for the fifth time. And before the end of the 13th edition of the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is busy discussing the 2021 edition.
If the Corona situation remains normal, the BCCI, led by Sourav Ganguly, wants to host the 14th edition of the IPL on Indian soil in April-May next year.
The buzz of the wind in this discussion - 2021 IPL could be 9 teams instead of eight teams. The new franchise team from Gujarat can play in the next edition. Of that franchise Motera can be the home ground.
It is to be noted that two teams named Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Super Giants played in IPL while Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were in exile in two seasons in 2016 and 2017. From there, plans are afoot for the Gujarat team to take part in the tournament.
