Kohli broke Sachin's record
One of the best batsmen of all time, his successor Virat Kohli has the only qualification to break the record of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. This has been talked about in the cricket world for a long time. And even without that, Kohli is showing. He is breaking one record after another.
This time, Kohli has set a unique record in the possession of Sachin.
That is - the captain of the Indian team reached the milestone of 22,000 international runs in the fastest time by playing the shortest innings.
Kohli hit 69 off 63 balls in the second ODI of the series against Australia in Sydney on Sunday.
His total runs in international cricket after this innings stood at 22,011.Sachin Tendulkar has played 493 innings to become a member of the 22 Hazari Club. But Kohli took just 462 innings to reach this milestone.
In other words, Kohli touched this record by playing 31 innings less than Sachin.Kohli and Sachin are followed by legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara in the list of the fastest 22,000 runs.
He reached the milestone of 22,000 runs in 511 innings. Former Australia World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting is in fourth place with 514 innings.
Despite surpassing everyone else in the list of 22,000 runs as the fastest batsman, all in all, Kohli is still at the bottom of the list of run-getter in international cricket.
Sachin is at the top there. India's master blaster ended his career with 34,356 runs.
Kohli is far behind Sachin as he is. However, cricket experts believe that the pace at which Kohli is running, if the fitness is right, may surpass the legendary Sachin.
