Five and a half thousand meters of the Padma bridge is now visible
The 36th span ‘2-C’ has been installed on the Padma Bridge in six days. The span was placed on the 9th and 10th piers at 2:45 pm on Thursday at the Mawa end of the bridge in Munshiganj. The visible part of the bridge is 5 thousand 550 meters. That is a little more than 5 and a half kilometers.There were only 4 spans left on the bridge. He said that the installation of the span has started at 9 am. At 10:40 a.m., a floating crane from the Kumarbhog Construction Yard set off for the designated pier with the 36th span of 150 meters in length.
Arrived at the pier around 11:20 p.m. The span is then slowly anchored according to the position and placed on the earthquake-resistant bearings of the pier. It takes more than 3 and a half hours to complete the whole work.Later at 2:45 pm the installation of the span was completed.
According to engineering sources, the 36th span will be followed by the 36th span '1-A' on Pier No. 1 and 2 on November 17, the 39th span '2-D' on Pier No. 23 on November 10 and 11, and the 40th span '2-E' on Pier No. 2 on December 11 and 12. And on December 10, there are plans to install the 41st span '2-F' on piers 12 and 13.
